Customise a sheet layout
Rearrange the blocks the Form View is built from, such as ability scores, skills and inventory, and add fields of your own for anything your game tracks.
The Form View is the standard, tabbed layout of a character sheet, the one that works on every screen. It is built from blocks: panels such as ability scores, a skill table, hit points, spells and inventory, arranged on tabs. The layout is the plan of which blocks sit on which tab, and in what order. Change it when the standard sheet doesn't suit your game: move the blocks you use most to the front, drop the ones your group never uses, such as encumbrance if nobody counts weight, or add a field for a house rule, such as a luck score.
Plan: changing layouts is on Starter and Pro.
Open the layout tools
- Open a sheet in the Form View and click Edit.
- Click Layout in the toolbar.
The first change you make saves a private copy of the layout for this sheet, so no other sheet changes.
The blocks
Each block shows one part of the character. Pick the ones this sheet needs:
| Block | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Field list | A simple list of values, one label and number per row. |
| Stat tiles | The same values as big tiles, for the few that matter most. |
| Ability scores | The score and modifier tiles a character is built from. |
| Skill table | A table with proficiency dots and a roll on every row. |
| Health | Hit points, a damage and heal control, and the rest buttons. |
| Items | Inventory you can use, equip and roll from. |
| Resources | Pools you spend, such as spell slots, ki and rages. |
| Tabbed panel | Several blocks stacked behind tabs, to save room. |
| Notes | Free text. |
| Portrait | The character's picture. |
| Progression | Class levels and what the next one brings. |
| Conditions | Status effects on the character, switched on and off with a click. |
| Coins | Money, with a button for one more or one less of each coin. |
| Encumbrance | Weight carried against what the character can carry. |
| Spacer | Empty room. |
A modifier is the bonus a score adds to rolls, and proficiency means the character is trained in a skill, so they add an extra bonus to it.
Change the layout
- Pages: the layout's tabs. New page adds one: type its name and click Add.
- + Add a block puts a block on the page you're on.
- Select a block to Move up, Move down or Delete block it. Tidy closes up gaps.
- The layout can differ by screen width: pick the width you're changing before you start. Under Editing for, choose Desktop, Tablet or Mobile (hover over the icons to see which is which). The desktop layout is the one the other widths start from.
Add a field of your own
A field is one value on the sheet, such as a number, with a label. Add one for anything the standard sheet doesn't track.
- Under New field, give it a label, choose toggle (a switch), stepper or number, and click Create.
- It lands in the Advanced folder (turn on Show Advanced folder to see it). Select a block and move the field into it. The Advanced folder holds every field that isn't in a block yet.
- Set it up:
- Value: a number, or a formula starting with =, such as
=STR*5. See Calculations and values. - Min and Max, a Prefix and Suffix, and Sign prefix (+3 / -1) to show a plus or minus.
- Rolls: what clicking it rolls, or Nothing if it isn't rollable.
- Value: a number, or a formula starting with =, such as
Switch between layouts
A system (the set of rules a game uses, such as 5e) can come with more than one layout, such as a full one and a shorter one. Pick one outside Edit mode, under Which layout this character wears. Switching hides and shows blocks; it never deletes a value.
