Spell FX
Spell FX plays animated spell and weapon effects on the board for everyone at the table: a fireball bursting over a group, lightning jumping between targets, an arrow in flight.
Plan: Spell FX follows the Game Master's (GM's) plan. When the GM is on Pro, everyone at the table can use it.
Cast an effect
- Hover over the Mode menu and choose Spell FX.
- Under Effect, search for a spell or weapon, such as fireball or longbow.
- Under Aim, choose how it's aimed. RollQuest marks the best one for the effect Recommended:
- Selected: on the tokens you've selected.
- Place: where you click.
- A → B: from one point to another, like a bolt or an arrow.
- Chain: from target to target.
- Click the cast button at the bottom of the panel. It says what to do next, such as Pick a spot or Pick A then B: click those points on the board. For Selected, select the tokens first.
The effect plays once, for everyone, and then it's gone.
Options
- Impact: Miss, Savage or Debris, for how it lands.
- Charge up: a build-up of a few seconds before it goes off, or Ritual.
- Sound: a sound from your game's Sound Library to play with it.
- Custom effect…: build your own from an Effect type and a Palette.
There are effects for about 340 spells, 64 weapons and 37 kinds of technology.
From a character sheet
Cast a spell at targets from a sheet, with Target, and it plays its own effect. See Spells and casting.
Your own view
In your profile, under Spell effects, you can turn off Show spell effects or Screen shake, or turn on Slow motion (¼ speed). It only changes your screen.
If lots of effects go off at once, RollQuest asks you to slow down a little.
See every spell's effect on the spell pages.
