The Spells tab lists your spells by level, with your spell slots above them. Open a spell to cast it: RollQuest spends the slot and rolls the attack or damage, and can play the spell on the board.

The Spells tab

  • Spellcasting: your Spellcasting Mod, Spell Save DC and Spell Attack. Click Spell Attack to roll it.
  • Spell Slots: a row per level, such as L1 Slots, with a pip for each slot and a count like 2/2. Tap a pip to mark it used or back.
  • Spells: grouped under Cantrips, Level 1 and so on. Each row shows the spell's level, range and casting time.

Cast a spell

  1. Click the spell to open it.
  2. For a spell of level 1 or higher, set Cast at if you want to cast it at a higher level. Casting higher adds the spell's extra dice.
  3. Click its action: Attack, Damage or Healing, or Cast for a spell with no roll.

The first action you press spends one slot at the Cast at level. Pressing more of that spell's buttons while it's open doesn't spend another. Tick Don't consume spell slot to cast it for free, from a scroll or a feature, say.

If you have no slots left at that level, RollQuest tells you: cast it at a higher level, or rest.

The cast goes into chat, with how many slots of that level you have left.

Attack spells, save spells and cantrips

  • Attack rolls your spell attack. On a natural 20, your next Damage roll doubles its dice.
  • A save spell shows its DC, for example DEX save DC 13. To have the targets roll their saves, use Target (below).
  • A damage cantrip has a button for each tier, such as Damage (L1-4, 1d10). Higher tiers unlock as you level up.

Target creatures

Spells that affect others have Target:

  1. Pick the creatures, or Place area for an area spell.
  2. Choose what happens to anyone who fails the save.
  3. Click Resolve. As the Game Master (GM) you can choose GM resolves to handle it yourself.

Cast at targets like this, and the spell plays its effect on the board for everyone, when the game has Spell FX. See Spell FX. Without targets you just get the dice.

Concentration

RollQuest tracks concentration. Casting a new concentration spell ends the old one, and chat says so. The token shows a badge while you concentrate. When you take damage, you're asked for a Constitution save: DC 10, or half the damage if that's higher.

Get your slots back

A Long Rest restores all your spell slots. A warlock's slots come back on a Short Rest. See Hit points and rests.

Add spells

New spells come from the builder's Edit Spells step and from levelling up. See Create a character and Level up.

Plan: adding spells straight from the sheet (+ From pack, + Custom Spell) and choosing which spells are prepared (Prepare Spells) are on Pro.
