Measure how far a character can move or reach, and drop area templates that show exactly what a spell will catch.

Measure

  1. Hover over the Mode menu and choose Measure.
  2. Pick a Shape: Circle, Square, Cone, Rectangle or Path.
  3. Click to start, move the pointer, and click again to fix it. The next click starts a new measurement.

The label shows the radius, side, length or width and height, in feet (5 feet a square unless your game system says otherwise).

  • Hold Cmd (Mac) or Ctrl (Windows) to measure a circle or square from its centre.
  • Hold Shift to turn a square or rectangle.
  • Press Esc to clear it.
A cone from one character towards an enemy, with its length in feet.

Measure a path

Choose Path, then click each point along the route. Each leg shows its own distance and a running Total follows your pointer. Drag a point to move it. Press Enter to finish.

A path with a turn in it: each leg shows its own distance.

Who sees a measurement

A player's measurements are theirs alone. The GM's circles, squares, cones and rectangles show live to every player, which is handy for pointing things out. Paths are never shared.

Mark an area that stays

For a spell that lasts, use Area Effects instead:

  1. Choose Area Effects in the Mode menu.
  2. Pick Circle, Square, Cone or Rectangle.
  3. Click and drag on the board. The size shows in feet, such as 20 ft radius.

Areas stay on the scene for everyone until they're deleted. Click one to change its name, colour and transparency, drag its handles to resize or turn it, or click Delete. You can also select it and press Delete. Only the person who drew it, or the GM, can change it.
