Start a battle
Battle mode rolls initiative for everyone in the fight, puts them in order, and keeps track of whose turn it is and which round you're on.
Choose who fights
Hover over the Mode menu and click Battle at the bottom. The Battle Setup panel opens.
Under Select Participants, untick anyone who isn't in the fight. Everyone on the board is ticked to start with.
For enemies and NPCs:
- type an initiative bonus in the ±0 box, and
- use the eye to keep them hidden from players until they're revealed.
Player characters take their bonus from their sheet (Auto). Click Auto to type one instead.
Click Start Battle. You need at least two participants.
Battle in the Mode menu opens Battle Setup. Everyone on the board starts ticked.
Roll initiative
The initiative tracker appears, showing Rolling.
- Players click Roll Initiative for their own characters. Their row then shows Ready.
- You click Roll Dice to roll for everyone still waiting. The button adds All Ready! once every player has rolled. You can also click a player's Waiting badge to roll for them.
Each roll shows its die on the board and posts an Initiative card to chat.
Begin combat
Click Begin Combat. The tracker sorts everyone from highest to lowest and starts Round 1. Anyone who hadn't rolled is rolled for automatically.
Players with a character in the fight see the tracker too. Hidden enemies show to them as ???.
Battle music
Give a scene Battle Music in its Scene Options (open Scenes, then the scene's settings). It starts when the battle starts, and the scene's own music comes back when it ends.
Plan: battle music needs Starter or Pro.
