A scene is one place in your adventure: a map with its own walls, fog, lights, enemies and music. A game can have as many scenes as you like, and you move the whole table between them.

What a scene holds

Each scene keeps its own map (and phases), enemies, NPCs, walls, doors, lights, area effects, drawings, assets, fog, grid, lighting, weather and music, plus where each player's token stands in it.

Player characters belong to the game, not the scene, so they come with you from scene to scene.

There's no limit on scenes on any plan.

Create a scene

  1. Open the menu (three lines, top left) and click Scenes.
  2. On the Scenes tab, type a name in Enter scene name... and click Create.

A new scene is blank: give it a map next. See Upload a map.

To start from a copy of a scene instead, hover over its card and click Duplicate Scene.

Switch scenes

  1. Click the scene's card. Switch Scene? explains what happens: the fog resets, player tokens are hidden, and the scene's own map, walls, doors, NPCs and enemies load.
  2. Click Switch Scene.

Everyone moves with you, and players see that the scene is changing. The scene that's on is marked with a dot.

Tip: to bring the party into the new scene, right-click the map where they should stand and choose Place Party Here.

If a battle is running, RollQuest asks you to end it before you switch.

Rename or set up a scene

Hover over a scene's card and click Scene Settings. Scene Options has the Scene Name, and the scene's Background Music and Battle Music (see Music). Click Save Options.

Delete a scene

Hover over its card, click Delete Scene, and confirm. You can't delete a game's last scene.

Scene packs

The Library tab adds ready-made scenes from content packs to this game. See Start from a content pack.
