Rollable tables
A rollable table picks a random result for you, such as an encounter, the weather or what's in the chest, and you roll it from the panel or from chat.
Rollable tables are a tabletop favourite: a list of possible outcomes, and a die roll to pick one. Adventure books are full of them, for random encounters, treasure and rumours. In RollQuest you type the list once, then roll it in one click and the result appears in chat. Reach for one when you want the dice to decide, such as what the party meets on the road at night, or what the pickpocket finds.
Plan: making and editing tables needs Starter or Pro on the Game Master's (GM's) account. Rolling on them works on every plan.
Make a table
Each entry is one possible result. Its weight is how likely it is compared with the others: an entry with a weight of 2 comes up twice as often as one with a weight of 1.
- Open the menu (the three lines at the top left) and click Rollable Tables under Game Master tools, then New Table.
- Give it a name, such as Forest Encounters, and a Description (optional).
- Add entries: type What happens, and use − and + to make it less or more likely. Each entry shows its chance as a percentage. + Add entry adds another.
- Choose Who can see this table: GM only or Players too.
- Choose Where results go by default: Everyone, GM only or Just me.
- Click Save table.
Leave Roll formula blank and RollQuest rolls a die the size of all the entries' weights. Or set it to a roll such as 2d6, to match a table printed in a book. You can give a table a Dice effect (optional) too: an animation played with the dice, such as fire for a trap.
A game can have 200 tables, each with up to 500 entries.
Roll on a table
Click Roll on the table.
- Players: the result goes where the table sends it by default.
- GM: choose where it goes under Post result to: Post to everyone, Only me (GM), Roll secretly to reveal later, Whisper to a player, or Prompt players… to ask players to roll it themselves within a time limit.
With Roll secretly, everyone sees the dice land but only you see the result, until you click Reveal to the table on its card in chat. Only me (GM) doesn't show the dice to anyone else at all. Prompt players… gives each player you choose between 15 seconds and 2 minutes to roll.
Roll from chat
/table Forest Encountersrolls a table, sending the result where it goes by default./table 3 Forest Encountersrolls it three times (up to 20)./gmtableshows the result to you and the GM, and/selftableto you alone./tableslists the tables you can roll.
Share tables with players
Share a table when players should be able to roll it themselves, such as a table of wild magic surges for a sorcerer. Set Who can see this table to Players too. Once one table is shared, players find Rollable Tables in the menu (the three lines at the top left), listing the tables Shared by your GM.
Edit or delete a table
Use the table's menu: Edit table or Delete table. Results already in chat stay there.
Tables also come with some content packs, marked pack.
