Pause the game to stop the action for a break, then show your players a full-screen picture while you're away.

Pause and unpause

  1. At the bottom right of the board, open the view controls (the arrow).

  2. Click Pause Game. Everyone sees PAUSED at the top and a message that the game was paused.

The view controls, then Pause Game. PAUSED shows at the top for everyone.
  3. To carry on, click Unpause Game.

Only you can pause. Players don't have the button.

Show a pause screen

A pause screen is a picture that covers the board for your players while the game is paused.

  1. Add your pictures first: open Game settings, and on General, under Pause screens, click Add. You can have up to 6. Click Save Settings.
  2. Pause the game.
  3. On the PAUSED banner, click Show cover and pick a picture.

Use Change cover to switch pictures and Hide cover to take it away. A pause always starts with no cover showing.

Players see the picture over the board, but their menus, sheets and chat still work around it. You don't see the cover yourself.

While the game is paused

  • Players can't move tokens.
  • Sound effects can't be played.
  • Chat, dice and character sheets still work.
  • The world clock stops.

If you drop out

If you disconnect, the game pauses by itself after about 15 seconds, and players see that the GM isn't online. It unpauses when you come back.
