Game settings
Game Settings holds your game's details, the table's rules, the board's defaults and who is in the game. Open it with the cog on the tool rail.
Open Game Settings
Click the cog (Game Settings) on the tool rail. As the Game Master (GM) you get five tabs down the side: General, Rules, Board, Players and Audio. It always opens on General.
Change anything on any tab, then click Save Settings once to save them all. Switching tabs doesn't lose what you've changed. Cancel throws your changes away. The Audio tab is the exception: it saves as you move each control.
Players who open Game Settings get a smaller Audio Settings window instead. See What players see below.
General
- Game Title and Description.
- Game System: the rules your game uses, or None (generic HP) for plain hit points. Enemies and NPCs without their own sheet use this system for their vitals and damage.
- Cover image: the picture on your game's card on the dashboard. PNG or JPG up to 5 MB; 1920 × 1080 (16:9) looks best. Use Reposition image to frame it, Change image or Remove image.
- Pause screens: up to 6 pictures you can show full-screen when you pause the game. Click Add, give each one a Label if you like, and click Save Settings. See Pause the game.
Rules
Rolls & saves
- Default roll audience: Everyone at the table or You and the player. It's where a player's roll options start, and who sees the detail when you damage or heal a player's token. Players can still change it on any roll. See Secret rolls.
- Saving throws on the resolution card: Everyone at the table or Only you. Players are told what happened to them either way; this is about who sees the numbers.
Characters
- Enforce encumbrance: carried weight always shows on a sheet. Turn this on to apply your game system's encumbrance penalties, such as slower speed.
- Default currency and Starting amount: what every new character starts with. Leave the amounts blank and your game system asks for starting money its own way. This only affects characters created from now on.
World clock (Pro)
- Track the time of day turns the clock on.
- Show the clock to players: turn it off to keep the time to yourself, for example while the party is lost underground.
- A battle round is worth a number of seconds, so time moves on during a fight.
- The campaign starts at: the day, month, year, hour and minute the story begins.
The clock stops by itself whenever the game does: while it's paused or locked, when nobody is at the table, or when you drop out.
Board
Lighting & fog
- Lighting environment: Bright Light, Dim Light or Darkness, the same choice as Environment in the Mode menu. See Lighting.
- Fog of war: Dynamic (resets when moving), Persistent (stays visible) or Static (GM-controlled). See Fog of war.
Colors
- Dice colors: the Fill and Text colour of your own dice, with a preview.
- Wall color: the colour walls are drawn in, in every scene of this game. Reset to default puts it back to red.
Cards
- Card display: how long a played card stays on the board, from 5 seconds to Keep until dismissed.
- Clear all cards removes every card on the board straight away, after you confirm.
The grid isn't set here: it has its own Grid mode in the Mode menu. See Line up the grid.
Players
Player UI sets which bars your players see on screen. Your own view never changes.
Shortcut Bar: players can place shortcuts to sounds, music and assets you've shared.
Cards Bar: players can see and play the cards dealt to them.
Bring own character sheets:
- Allowed: a player can bring a sheet they built in their account into this game, and it arrives straight away.
- Needs approval: it arrives unassigned and hidden from other players until you approve it.
- Off: players can't bring their own sheets.
Bringing a sheet makes a copy, so the original stays in the player's account. The sheet has to use this game's system, and it counts towards your plan's character sheet limit.
Freeze characters: players can play their characters but can't change them: no level-ups, new ability scores or rebuilds. Hit points, spell slots, inventory and money still work, and you can still edit everything. Locking the game freezes characters too.
Manage users lists everyone in the game, marked Player or Invited. Remove takes someone out of the game after you confirm: they're disconnected and their tokens are unassigned.
Audio
Your own volume and sound settings, the same as in your profile. They only change what you hear. See Your profile.
What players see
A player who opens Game Settings gets Audio Settings:
- Your Dice Colors: the Fill and Text colour of their dice and token, which everyone at the table sees. Auto picks a readable text colour. It shows once they have a character.
- Their own volume and sound settings.
