Browsers and devices
RollQuest runs in Chrome and Edge. Run your game on a computer; players can also follow along on an Android phone.
Browsers
| Browser | Works? |
|---|---|
| Chrome | Yes |
| Edge | Yes |
| Safari | No |
| Firefox | No |
In Safari or Firefox the sign-in window shows Browser Not Supported and lists Chrome and Edge. Everything on it is greyed out until you switch.
iPhone and iPad: every browser on an iPhone or iPad is built on Safari's engine, including Chrome and Edge for iOS, so RollQuest can't be signed in to there yet.
Computers
The GM needs a computer: the building tools (walls, doors, fog, lighting, the grid) and the GM panels are made for a mouse and a wide screen. Players get the most out of a computer too.
Phones
On an Android phone, RollQuest opens your character sheet first, filling the screen, so you can roll, cast and track hit points with your thumb.
- Close the sheet to see the board. A round Open character sheet button in the bottom-left corner brings it back.
- The sheet's header has Toggle 3D dice (turn the dice animation off and just see the result), Edit/Done and Close sheet.
- If the GM hasn't given you a character yet, you see No character sheet assigned to you in this game yet.
On narrow screens the tool rail on the right is folded into the menu (the button in the top-left), under Your tools, Game Master tools and Help.
Some tools stay on the computer only: drawing on the Canvas view of a sheet, stickers and placing elements on it, and arranging the GM Asset Drawer.
For a smooth game
- Close other heavy tabs. Big animated maps are the most demanding thing on the board.
- Use a wired connection or strong Wi-Fi for the GM. Everyone else follows the GM's table.
- Keep the browser up to date.
