Every token has its own vision: how far it sees in each kind of light, in colour or in grey. RollQuest clears the fog around a player's token as far as that token can see.

Default vision

  • Player characters see 60 ft in Bright Light, 30 ft in Dim Light and 15 ft in Darkness.
  • Enemies and NPCs have no vision of their own by default.
  • Darkvision and other senses come from the character's sheet or the creature's stat block, and show as Default rows, for example colour to 30 ft and grey to 120 ft.

Change a token's vision

  1. Right-click the token and choose Edit Character (or Edit Enemy, or Edit NPC).

  2. Open the Vision tab. Vision Bands lists what the token can see.

  3. Choose the lighting it applies to: All lighting states, or just Bright Light, Dim Light or Darkness.

  4. For each band, pick Full Color or Grayscale and set how far it reaches. Add band adds another further out; Remove band takes one away.

  5. Click Save Changes.

The Vision tab: add a band, make it Grayscale and reach 120 ft, then Save Changes.

When vision counts

Vision works with Dynamic and Persistent fog. With Static fog, you reveal the map by hand and vision isn't used. Senses such as darkvision only work with Dynamic fog. See Fog of war.

Past 60 ft, the fog clears in a plain circle rather than square by square, to keep the board quick.

Let players see from another token

On a token's Access tab, Player Perspective View lists your players. Tick the ones who should also see the fog clear from this token's position: a familiar, a scout, a crystal ball.

To check what a player sees, use GM View Perspective (Starter and Pro). See GM view and player view.
