Lighting
Lighting decides how far your players can see. Set the scene to bright, dim or dark, then place torches, lanterns and magic lights. Walls block light, so a lantern lights its own room.
Set the scene's lighting
Hover over the Mode menu and choose Environment.
Under Lighting, choose Bright Light, Dim Light or Darkness.
Click Confirm. The fog resets to suit the new light.
Environment in the Mode menu, Dim Light, then Confirm.
Lighting needs fog of war switched on, and Dynamic or Persistent fog. If it's greyed out, the panel tells you which to change.
In Darkness the whole map turns grey for everyone, and characters see only as far as their own sight and your lights allow.
Add a light
Open the menu (three lines, top left) and click Lights, then + Add.
Pick a Light Type:
Type Bright Dim Candle 5 ft 10 ft Torch 20 ft 40 ft Lantern 30 ft 60 ft Magic Light 40 ft 80 ft Change its Name, Bright Radius and Dim Radius (in feet) and Color if you like. Animation adds Flicker, Pulse or Electrical.
Click Create Light. It appears in the middle of your view.
Lights, + Add, pick Torch, then Create Light. Drag the light into place on the board.
Drag the light's handle to where it belongs.
You can only drag lights with GM View on, in Play mode. Players see the glow, never the handle.
Change or remove a light
Right-click a light for Edit Light, Hide Light, Lock Light (so it can't be dragged by mistake), Elevation, Clone and Delete Light. Deleting from the board happens straight away; deleting from the Lights panel asks first.
Give a character a torch
Right-click the light and choose Attach to Token, then click the character, creature or NPC. The light now moves with them. Stop Following lets it go.
Plan: lights that follow a token need Starter or Pro.
Weather
The Environment panel also holds Weather: rain, snow, fog and storms over the scene.
