Map markers
Pin private notes to the map, such as the locked door, the trap or room 3's treasure, where only you can see them.
A map marker is a small pin on a scene's map that holds your notes, like the numbered key in a printed adventure. Players never see map markers, so the secret of each room sits right where it is instead of in a separate document. A scene is one place in your game, with its own background map, and each scene keeps its own markers.
Plan: map markers are on Starter and Pro.
Beta: map markers are still rolling out, so they may not be on your account yet.
Add a marker
- Right-click an empty spot on the map and choose Add Map Marker.
- Give it a Label, such as The locked door.
- Pick an Icon and a Colour, or type a Number / letter (up to 3 characters) to show instead of the icon.
- Write Notes if you like. They take Markdown, a simple way to format text (two asterisks either side of a word make it bold), and you can insert images.
The label shows when you hover over the marker. Click a marker to read its notes.
Change or delete a marker
Right-click it and choose Edit Marker or Delete Marker. Deleting asks you to press twice.
Each scene can have up to 200 markers, and each marker belongs to one phase of its scene: the one showing when you added it. A phase is another version of the scene's map, such as night-time, and a marker only shows while its own phase is on.
