A phase is another version of a scene's map: day and night, before and after the cave-in, the ritual chamber powered up. Swap phases and the map changes for everyone, with a transition and a sound.

Add a phase

  1. Upload the other version of the map to the Background Library. It must be exactly the same size, in pixels, as the scene's map.
  2. Open Scenes. Under the scene that's on, the Phases strip shows its phases.
  3. Pick the new map from Choose a background… and click + Add phase.

The first time you add one, the scene's current map becomes Phase 1. If the sizes don't match, RollQuest tells you the size it needs.

Swap phases

Click a phase in the strip. Everyone sees the map change.

Each phase has its own transition, fade, blur, shake or cut, how long it takes, and a sound to play as it happens (or No sound).

What changes, and what doesn't

  • Changes: the map, and the walls, doors and lights. A new phase starts with a copy of the walls, doors and lights of the phase that was showing when you added it, so you can change them for the new version: a collapsed passage, say.
  • Stays: tokens, fog, weather and the grid.

Only the game's creator can add and swap phases.
