Ready-made characters

Take a ready-made level 1 character for any class, built for your game's system, as your own copy to rename and change.

A ready-made character (players often call it a pregen) is one that's already built, with every choice made and every number filled in. Take one when you want to start playing straight away: for a one-off adventure, for a new player who hasn't made a character yet, or when your character has just died and you want to rejoin the fight. It's also a gentle way to learn the rules before you build a character of your own.

Take a ready-made character

  1. Click Character Sheets on the tool rail (the column of icons on the right edge of the screen) and open the Ready-Made tab. (Or click New Sheet and choose Select from Library.)
  2. Look through the characters. Each card shows the portrait, name, class and level. Click a card to read about the character, and More → for the full details.
  3. Click Use this one.

The copy opens, assigned to you. It's a character sheet like any other: change the name, the portrait, anything you like. Nothing you change touches the original, and later changes to the original never reach your copy.

The list only shows characters for your game's system, the set of rules the game plays by, such as 5e. If the game has no system yet, it takes the system of the first ready-made character you use.

What the Game Master decides

The Game Master (GM) sets Bring own character sheets in Game Settings. It decides whether players can bring characters of their own into the game, and it covers ready-made characters too:

  • Allowed: your copy is yours straight away.
  • Needs approval: your copy waits until the GM clicks Approve (or Reject) on it in their sheet list.
  • Off: you can't take a ready-made character in this game.

Keep one for later

On a character's details, Add to my library saves a copy to your account instead, ready to bring into any game with the same system. Your account library holds characters that belong to you rather than to one game. See Your account library.

Your sheet limit

A ready-made character counts towards your plan's character sheet limit, like one you build yourself. At the limit you see Character sheet limit reached.
