The words RollQuest uses, and what each one means on screen.

Area effect. A shape (circle, square, cone or rectangle) that marks where a spell lands and stays on the board until deleted. See Measure distance and mark areas.

Background. The map image or video under a scene.

Battle. Combat mode: initiative, turns and rounds, run from the tracker. See Start a battle.

Character. A player's token, usually with a character sheet.

Content pack. A published campaign, scene, creature collection or rules set you can start a game from or add to one.

Door. A wall that opens and closes. See Doors.

Enemy. A creature token the GM controls, often with a stat block from the creature library.

Fog of war. The darkness over the parts of the map no character can see. See Fog of war.

Game. Your table in RollQuest: everything for one campaign or one-shot. See Create a game.

Game Master (GM). The person who creates the game and runs it. They see everything.

Game system. The rules pack a game uses, such as 5e. It decides the dice, the stats and the creature library.

GM View. The GM's view of the board, with hidden things shown. Turn it off to see what players see. See GM view and player view.

Grid. The squares (or hexes) laid over a map. See Line up the grid.

Initiative. The order combatants act in, rolled at the start of a battle.

Light. A light source on the board, such as a torch or a lantern. See Lighting.

Mode menu. The tab at the top of the board where you switch between Play, Measure, Walls, Fog of War and the other modes.

NPC. A non-player character: a person the GM plays, such as a shopkeeper or a villain.

Phase. A different state of the same scene, such as a room before and after the lights go out.

Player. Someone in the game who isn't the GM. A game has up to 8.

Scene. One map with everything on it: tokens, walls, lights and fog. A game can have many scenes.

Shortcut Bar. The bar at the bottom of the screen with slots for sounds, assets, effects and spells you use often.

Stat block. A creature's numbers: hit points, armour class, abilities and actions.

Token. Anything that stands on the board and moves: characters, enemies and NPCs.

Wall. A line on the map that blocks sight and light, and can block movement. See Walls.
